North Park Planning Committee Approves Community Plan Update

On Tuesday, September 6th, the North Park Planning Committee voted 11-3 to approve  the controversial North Park Community Plan Update, which has been about 9 years in the making. The group made it’s decision after hearing comment from over 100 gathered at the LaFayette Hotel, and made approval contingent upon a list of non-binding “edits, recommendations, and mitigations” aimed at ameliorating Plan Update impacts.

“Yes” votes were cast by Robert Barry, Howard Blackson, Dionne Carlson, Robert Gettinger, Vicki Granowitz, Peter Hill, Sarah McAlear, Roger Morrison, Doug Nguyen, Melissa Stayner, and Rene Vidales.  “No” votes were cast by Steve Codraro, Daniel Gebreselassie, and Rick Pyles.

The updated North Park Community Plan and the Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) are now scheduled for the following decision-maker hearings:

  • Historic Resources Board (Currently scheduled for September 14, 2016
  • Planning Commission (Currently scheduled for September 22, 2016)
  • Smart Growth and Land Use Committee (Currently scheduled for October 5, 2016)
  • City Council (To Be Scheduled)
